NCICA Chairman's Commentary Convention 2009 is being held in Charleston, South Carolina, where it is being presided over by Ted Hinchman, one of NCICA’s Regional Nice Presidents; now, NCICA 2009 President. Things to consider: Conventions provide opportunities to share with people who have the same interests in Military Intelligence and Counter Intelligence. In so doing, it becomes obvious why CIC was nicknamed America’s Secret Army. Another point in attending NCICA conventions is and it provides an incentive to travel to various geographic and historic points of interest. The members that do attend span more than a half century of short time and career agents that, like all of us, recognize the ‘kinship’ we all possess. From former officers to the grunt, there is no rank and no distinction - we are what we are, people who worked silently and unrecognized to insure the safety of this country. Brothers all. If you were unable to attend the 2009convention, we urge you to consider coming to Convention 2009. Volunteers are the machinery that keeps NCICA functioning. Our Board of Governors is responsible for new ideas and projects that keep us up to date; Regional Vice Presidents are the contacts across the nation and who establish new NCICA groups in their respective areas. Our publication - the GS- is Co-ordinated by Jim Cate who editorializes, presents Spook Stories, comments and experiences from the membership so that the Secret Army shall not be forgotten. Along with Jim, we would hope that you feel free to submit your experiences so that they may be shared with interest by all. Keep in mind, those experiences are the chronicle of CIC- well, no!, of us- the Secret Army. A final note: The purpose of establishing a Web Site (http://www.ncica.org) is to reach out to Military Intelligence people - both past and present - with information about NCICA and through this medium, extend an open invitation to join NCICA. Coordinator’s addendum: Joining NCICA was an interesting experience for me. The first thoughts I had when approached were those of the’ Bird, the Field Office, the eighteen hour work day and 7 day work week, the guys I served with, the SAIC’s I served under and a reawakening of memories pushed to the back of my mind. It was both daunting and somewhat intimidating to consider joining such a group. When I attended my first convention I felt like a fish out of water until I entered the Hospitality Room. Conversations and introductions were made as I met people- later finding out that I had conversed with a Lt. Colonel, a Looey and a Captain as well as ex- NCO’s, and was made to feel totally at ease. We were RANKLESS field agents and are so even now. I met and was part of a friendship that has no equal-
